AS-Interface Module Enables Operation of Sensor-Driven PPE Equipment across the AS-Interface Bus

STI’s new SB-INT-01 AS-Interface Module is IP67 protected and is equipped with two solid-state inputs making it an ideal solution when interfacing safety light curtains and safety laser scanners onto an AS-Interface bus. It is also equipped with five status indicators that are valuable visual aids during trouble-shooting, as well as a status display for bus, auxiliary supply and inputs.

Connect up to Three Sets of Safety Light Curtains with new Resource Module

STI's new RM-5 resource module is a microprocessor-controlled, multifunction relay that allows up to three light curtains to be connected. Muting for conveyor applications and Presence Sensing Device Initiation (PSDI) are also a function of this resource module. It provides 2 NO and 1 NC force-guided safety contacts, and is UL recognized and carries the CE mark to satisfy global application requirements.

Reduce Inventory, Simplify Installation with Safety Mat Quick Disconnect Feature

STI's new UMQ Series Safety Mats offer a unique quick disconnect feature that allows for last minute cable length changes. Additionally, since the cable is not attached until the end of the installation process, the potential for cable damage during installation is significantly reduced. Their patented design satisfies IP67 environment requirements

NEW! Multi-Segment Safety Light Curtain Provides True Custom Fit

STI's innovative new MiniSafe Flexible MSF4700 family of safety light curtains features a multi-segmented design to protect up to four different openings by connecting up to four transmitters and receivers in sequence. Height and resolution can be customized for each segment. They are engineered to withstand high shock and vibration environments typical of punch presses and other heavy industrial machinery.

Protected heights from 150 mm to 1800 mm and esolutions of 14 mm, 20 mm, and 30 mm are available, with any combination thereof being possible. This ability to customize height and esolution for each light curtain segment allows for a rue custom fit for a specific machine.

For example, in an application where two different esolutions are required (i.e. 14 mm finger detection or the vertical plane and 30 mm detection to sense he presence of someone standing in a hazardous area) t is now possible to customize the light curtain withouthaving to resort to multiple machine safeguards.

Remote fixed-blanking allows for quick set-up and change-over for different jobs. Programming the blanking feature is easily performed at the front of themetal enclosure, or by an installer-supplied key switch that can be conveniently located near the workcell.

The controller is available in a 35 mm, IP20-rated DIN enclosure with 24 VDC solid-state safety outputs. t is also available in a 14-gauge steel IP65 lockable enclosure with a choice of solid-state or force-guided elay outputs. NEW! Rugged Safety Light Curtains Now Available in Resolutions from 14mm to 50mm

STI's MegaSafe® MG4600 family of safety light curtains is now available with 14mm resolution to provide an even wider range of detection capabilities, from 14mm finger detection to 50mm arm detection. The MG4600 Series comes with a complete safety light curtain features set, and is designed to meet the stringent safeguarding requirements for automotive applications. The MG4600's rugged housing is ideal for environments that might cause other light curtains to fail.

Control reliable circuitry eliminates the need for a separate controller, and patented Individual Beam Indicators simplify alignment. Additional features include field-replaceable safety relays and weld shield, Floating Blanking to block up to two beams anywhere in the zone, and Exact Channel Select to permanently block selected beams where machine parts will obstruct a portion of the zone.

Options include MPCE monitoring for control reliability, MTS (Machine Test Signal) to verify proper operation of safety outputs, and DeviceNet interface for communication of non-safety related data between the MG4600, the main machine controller, and other nodes residing on this fieldbus. NEW! Sti introduces light curtain controller with IP65 rating and lockable metal enclosure

The LCM-100 Series Controller's lockable metal enclosure carries an environmental rating of NEMA 4,12 (IP65). These controllers are protected from water over-sprays and dust while allowing easy, but controlled, access to the controller board. The controller's fast response time permits the light curtains to be mounted closer to the points of hazardous operation for increased productivity.

This addition to the LCM controller family provides a broad range of controller choices for use with STI's MC4700, MCF4700, MCJ4700, and MS4700 families of safety light curtains. Features unique to the LCM-100 version of the 4700 family controller are options for 100-230 VAC power and relay safety outputs. LCM-100 features include a two digit numerical display to aid in rapid installation and troubleshooting, as well as MPCE monitoring, remote reset, exact channel select, and floating blanking. Additional features include a choice of automatic start, start/restart interlock, and start interlock operating modes. A DeviceNet option is also available.
