Category 3 Interlock System Can Replace Safety Relay in Most Applications
The tamper-resistant CM Series compact coded magnetic safety interlock switch and control unit will monitor up to four CM switches to category 3 in accordance with EN954-1. This non-contact interlock system features a NEMA 6 encapsulated design, with switch and actuator available in three shapes and sizes, allowing it to accommodate a variety of harsh application requirements.
The CM-S4 control unit provides external device monitoring (also referred to as MPCE monitoring) and has an automatic reset function, which allows
the control unit to replace a safety relay in most applications. The control unit also features removable terminal blocks for simplified wiring and installation, and allows mechanical switches and CM Series switches to be used together for applications requiring non-contact and mechanical safety interlock switches. The system has a misalignment tolerance of 5 and 9 mm to reduce nuisance tripping.
- Conforms to EN954-1, EN1088, EN 60204-1 TUV certified, UL and C-UL listed
- A fully monitored system that meets Category 3 when 1 to 30 plus switches are used with the CM Control Units
- External Device Monitoring (EDM) with automatic reset
- NEMA 6 switch enclosures satisfy most application requirements
- Magnetically coded switches are tamper resistant to common magnets
- Misalignment tolerance of (5 and 9 mm) reduces nuisance tripping
- Dual channel N/C E-stop input is monitored by the CM-S41 control in addition to four CM switches
- Mechanical interlock switches may be used with a CM-S4 control unit
- CM-S4 control unit may replace a safety relay in most applications
Safety Interlock Switch Provides Tamper-Resistant Operation
The MFS stand-alone safety interlock switch from STI requires magnetic and ferroresonant signals to close the safety signals, making this switch highly resistant to tampering. A NEMA 4 enclosure enables the MFS to withstand water wash-down cleaning, while providing up to 10 million actuations. The switch is pre-wired and mounts easily on 1 in. square tubing.
For lower risk applications it can be used as a stand alone safety switch with direct switching of relays and contactors up to 2 A at 230 VAC.
The MFS can be coupled with safety monitoring relays in applications that require a higher level of safety reliability.
- Conforms to EN1088, EN292, EN60204-1, EN50081, EN50082 UL and C-UL listed
- Tamper resistant- the combination of magnetic and ferroresonant signals required to close the safety contacts makes the MFS very tamper resistant
- Stand-alone- use for lower risk applications as a stand-alone safety switch allowing direct switching of relays and contactors up to 2 A at 230 VAC
- Compact size- the MFS is pre-wired and mounts easily on 1-in. square tubing
- Use with safety monitoring relays in applications requiring a higher level of safety reliability
- NEMA 4 enclosure enables the MFS to withstand water washdown cleaning
- Long life- the MFS is designed for ten million actuations
Safety Interlock Switch Provides a Minimum of Two Million Actuations
STI’s metal body T4016 Series safety interlock switches are engineered to provide a minimum of two million actuations. They are available in a variety of 4 contact pole versions that provide 2 poles for dual channel safety monitoring, with 2 additional poles for status monitoring.
A narrow profile of allows the T4016 to be mounted on 2-inch square tubing, or in applications with space restrictions. The rotatable head pro vides eight possible actuator positions for versatile installation. The strong, NEMA 6, all-metal housing and stainless steel actuator allows this switch to be used in many applications while withstanding water washdown cleaning.
The T4016 conforms to all appropriate European safety standards and is UL, C-UL and CE listed. Anoptional heavy-duty slide bolt provides an integral door handle and includes an actuator. The slotted hole in the slide bolt permits the attachment of multiple padlocks.
-
Conforms to EN1088, EN292, EN60947-5-1, EN60204-1 UL and C-UL listing pending BG approved
- Rugged enclosure—The all metal housing and stainless steel actuator of the T4016 makes it suitable for harsh environments.
- NEMA 6/IP67 enclosure enables these switches to withstand water washdown cleaning.
- Rotatable head gives eight possible actuator entry points for versatile installation. A blanking plug is supplied for the unused entry.
- Long life—These switches, with their stainless steel actuators, are designed for a minimum of two million actuations.

Safety Interlocks Are Tolerant to Misalignment of up to 10 mm
STI’s MA Series magnetically actuated safety interlock switches offer a variety of contact configurations and terminations, as well as NEMA 4 or NEMA 6 enclosures, to satisfy a wide array of application requirements. These cost-effective switches are tolerant to misalignment of up to 10mm while providing a minimum of one million actuations.
- Conforms to EN1088, EN292, EN60204-1
CSA approved,
UL listing (pending)
- Large selection- choose from a large selection of contact configurations housed in plastic to satisfy most application requirements
- NEMA 6 enclosure enables the MA Series switches to withstand high pressure steam cleaning (MA 3, 4, 5 are NEMA 4)
- Misalignment tolerant– the non-contact actuation of the MA Series switches makes them very tolerant to misalignment of up to 0.39 inches (10 mm)
- Variety of terminations– select from various cable lengths or terminal strip termination for easy installation. Brad Harrison connector available on selected models.
- Long life– the MA Series safety interlock switches are designed for a minimum of one million actuations
Rear Release Handle Provides Manual Release of a
Locked Switch from Inside Guarded Area
A rear release handle is now available for STI's TL4019 series safety interlock switches that allows for the manual rear-release of a locked switch from inside a guarded area, pursuant to ANSI/RIA R15.06 (on rear release switch models only). The rear release handle may be installed on the switch in conjunction with the use of a slide bolt.
Utilizing a total of four contacts, the TL4019 monitors safety, door position and the lock itself. The switch features a locking force of 1200 N (270 lb.) to ensure that the guard door stays locked shut until the machine is safe to enter. The TL4019 is CE marked for conformity to all European safety standards and is UL and c-UL listed.
The TL4019 features a narrow profile that allows it to be mounted on 2-in. square tubing or in space-restricted applications and is designed to provide a minimum of one million actuations. The rugged NEMA 6 glass-filled polyester housing allows the switch to withstanding water washdown cleaning.
